10 Things I Learned When Traveling To Lisbon

Read about my Full Experience: Third Stop, Lisbon!

1. Hills, lots of Hills

Before I chose Lisbon as a city that I wanted to visit, I read a couple of posts online about how nice of it a city it is to visit but no one ever mentioned the hills. To put this bluntly, I have never sweated so much on vacation. Most of the hills are steep and if you’re slightly out of shape, you will be breathing heavy. Also, if you’re like me and you rely on Google Maps for directions, it may send you technically on the shortest routes but it will also send you up the steepest hills. After being there for 4 nights and walking around the city alot, I realized that there were multiple and less stressful walking paths than what was suggested.

Know Thy Traveler – Jennifer R.

Jennifer R. is a French woman I was lucky enough to meet while I was traveling in Lisbon. We happened to be part of the same walking tour and spent a couple of days together which allowed for us to get to know each other very well. I found her life perspectives to be interesting and overall she’s a great woman. I’m proud to introduce such a special person to my readers.

So 2 nights in Berlin, 2 nights in Budapest…I finally get some extended time in a city with 4 nights in Lisbon. Because of my last minute changes for my trip, my first night was spent in a Hotel on the other side of the bridge in Almada because I thought I would sit on the beach next to the Hotel. Of course, I landed and was so tired that I didn’t leave my room and never made it to the beach. The next morning I headed into the city of Lisbon and stayed at Lisboa Central Hostel. First let me say, I absolutely loved staying here, great staff and a nice welcoming environment. I highly recommend if you’re visiting the city.

Turkish Airlines

Tourism is a huge industry throughout the world and countries across the world want people to come into their country to experience their culture and of course, spend their money. With this being said, there are airlines that are being used to entice travelers to choose their country as a possible country to visit by offering great layover programs. A layover program is essentially giving you the ability to pick an ultimate destination but mid travel you will have a layover in a different country for 24 hours or longer. This idea is to give you the opportunity to tour the country and then fly to your destination.

It’s official…booked 16 nights in Europe!

It’s been over a year of traveling and my experiences have been life changing for me. I’ve met so many people and I told myself that I’ll do my best to keep those relationships no matter where they may be from. While I was in Munich, one of the cool people I met was a guy named Ruben from Amsterdam. He mentioned he never went to Berlin so when I proposed the idea of partying in Berlin for the weekend, he was game.

Of course while I’m in Europe, I want to see other places. I recently found out that I had more time off I can use this year…so I decided to do another 16 night bounce around Europe like I did last year.

So here is the game plan:
