After a wonderful 3 nights in Barcelona, it was time to go to Madrid as the last city on my trip. I decided to take the Renfe train which was fast and comfortable. I will say, I feel very lucky that everywhere I went, the weather was really nice except for the last day in Barcelona. As soon as I made it to Madrid it rained all day and night. Being that I was only there for 2 nights, it completely killed my first night experience. What made it even worse is that the Hostel I picked (Generator Hostel) was a complete corporate styled Hostel. The best way I could describe it was feeling cold. It’s the reason I opt out of staying in Hotels and the only difference was that you shared a room. So my first night, I slept and did nothing in my Hostel.

One of the employees of Fabrizzio’s Petit, Jessica

After 3 nights in Porto, I caught a short flight to Barcelona. I felt pretty rested so I was ready to take on my next 3 nights in Barcelona. By time I landed and got settled in my hostel it was the late afternoon so I decided to see what activities my hostel offered, find dinner and meet new people. The hostel I chose to stay at was Fabrizzio’s Petit and I have to say, out of all the hostels I’ve stayed at so far in Europe, this was my favorite. From the first moment of walking through, the staff was incredibly welcoming. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The first night was Sangria night and most of the people in the hostel met up for drinks and conversation. It felt like the united nations with all the people from different parts of the world. After having Sangria at the hostel, some of us went to a local bar to have more drinks and hang out. Overall, it was a great time and I met a lot of like minded people.

So 2 nights in Berlin, 2 nights in Budapest…I finally get some extended time in a city with 4 nights in Lisbon. Because of my last minute changes for my trip, my first night was spent in a Hotel on the other side of the bridge in Almada because I thought I would sit on the beach next to the Hotel. Of course, I landed and was so tired that I didn’t leave my room and never made it to the beach. The next morning I headed into the city of Lisbon and stayed at Lisboa Central Hostel. First let me say, I absolutely loved staying here, great staff and a nice welcoming environment. I highly recommend if you’re visiting the city.

After a short 2 night stay in Berlin, I unfortunately had to setup a short 2 night stay in Budapest. This means I had to try and make the most of it. I had booked a 2 night stay with the Wombats City Hostel because I’ve stayed in the ones in London and Munich and enjoyed my stay. Also it’s in a great location and easy to walk to all the tourist sites.

Why Berlin should be on your shortlist

You ever have that feeling of deja vu? I swear I have it every time I tell a friend that I’m going to Berlin and their response is inevitably “Again?”…yes AGAIN. I never have a chance to really explain in detail why I love Berlin and why I keep going back to this wonderful city. First let me state that I’m biased to Germany in general. I took an interest in the German language which led for me to meet native German speakers and to eventually go to Germany. Even with me being biased, I still have great reasons why Berlin should be somewhere on your shortlist if you’re planning to go to Europe.

It’s official…booked 16 nights in Europe!

It’s been over a year of traveling and my experiences have been life changing for me. I’ve met so many people and I told myself that I’ll do my best to keep those relationships no matter where they may be from. While I was in Munich, one of the cool people I met was a guy named Ruben from Amsterdam. He mentioned he never went to Berlin so when I proposed the idea of partying in Berlin for the weekend, he was game.

Of course while I’m in Europe, I want to see other places. I recently found out that I had more time off I can use this year…so I decided to do another 16 night bounce around Europe like I did last year.

So here is the game plan:
